Job summary

IKEA Etobicoke is seeking a Carpentry I professional to perform carpentry, painting, and general repairs with a focus on safety, efficiency, and cost control. This role supports store maintenance while minimizing disruption to operations and the customer experience.

Responsibilities include operating tools, sourcing materials, and completing preventative maintenance to maintain a safe, functional environment.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of carpentry experience in a commercial, retail, industrial, or similar environment.
  • Proven ability to perform carpentry, painting, and general maintenance work to a high standard.
  • Strong knowledge of the safe operation and maintenance of power tools and hand tools.
  • Comfortable working at heights and using ladders safely.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 25 kg (55 lbs) on a regular basis.
  • Strong planning and prioritization skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Effective communication skills and a collaborative approach to working with colleagues and stakeholders.
  • Flexibility to support a variety of store maintenance and operational needs as required.

  • Safely operate and maintain hand tools, power tools, ladders, and other equipment required to complete assigned tasks.
  • Identify, source, and order materials, tools, and other resources required for maintenance and repair projects.
  • Complete preventative maintenance, repairs, and store improvement projects to support a safe and functional environment.
  • Support various store operational and facility needs as assigned.
  • Adhere to all health, safety, and workplace regulations, including working safely at heights.
  • Share information, insights, and best practices with co-workers and relevant stakeholders to ensure effective collaboration and execution.

Please note : While this position is primarily based at IKEA Etobicoke Store, occasional travel to the IKEA Toronto downtown store may be required to support business operations.


Work Schedule: Monday to Friday, 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM.


Job Type : Full-time, Temporary ( 12 months contract)
