Job description

Job Description: The newly established position of Business Development Associate will be located in either Edmonton, Calgary, or Vancouver with reporting lines to our Business Development Team. The chosen candidate will serve as a strategic partner and catalyst for growth within Thompson Construction Group. Their role encompasses various aspects of business development, including acquiring new clients, managing stakeholders, and cultivating fruitful and sustainable relationships with external organizations and clients.

This role will extend our business development endeavors and diversify our portfolio across Canada, with a particular focus on British Columbia and Ontario. Moreover, the incumbent will devise strategies to pursue opportunities in other geographic regions and industries.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Collaborate with the executive management team and operational managers to devise an optimal strategy for expanding the business.
  • Assist in managing all aspects of business development, encompassing sales strategy, forecasting, and cultivating new client relationships.
  • Champion our brand and spearhead initiatives to expand market awareness through innovative channels.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Take charge of evaluating operational challenges concerning competitiveness and the capacity to remain abreast of trends and innovations influencing our business endeavors.
  • Conduct comprehensive reviews of research, feasibility studies, and business plans to enhance and develop our service offerings.
  • Offer proficient leadership and management of sales and business development endeavors aligned with the Company’s overarching strategy.
  • Foster ongoing growth in Thompson Construction Group presence and sales by strategically networking with key decision makers in the Mining, Oil and Gas industry.
  • Play a proactive role in cultivating and nurturing partner relationships with First Nations groups.

Opportunities:

  • The successful candidate will have the chance to significantly and directly influence revenue by nurturing productive, profitable, and amicable business relationships with both existing and prospective clients.

Experience:

  • Demonstrated Business Development experience, with a preference for industries including heavy civil construction, oil & gas facility construction, mining, and infrastructure development.
  • Proven track record of overseeing revenue budgets surpassing $175+ million.
  • Demonstrated success in crafting comprehensive strategic plans to target new clients and penetrate new markets.
  • Proficiency in understanding the dynamics and operations of companies operating within the energy sector.
  • Extensive network of business contacts within the mining and energy and related sectors.
