Job summary

Canadian Tire Stores is seeking an Automotive Service Installer to perform oil and lube services, tire installation, rotation and balancing, and light maintenance in a fast-paced service center.

The role involves working with the service team, providing estimates, and ensuring safety standards are met. Industry knowledge and customer service mindset are valued in this family-oriented environment.

Qualifications

• Valid driver’s license for province of employment and clean driving record.
• Ability to stand/walk for long periods and lift/carry items.
• Ability to work shifts including holidays and weekends.
• Able to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Knowledge of current automobile technology and basic maintenance.
• Familiar with computerized service systems.

Responsibilities

• Perform basic vehicle maintenance and repairs (lube, oil/filter changes, tire rotation/balance).
• Conduct emissions tests where required by province.
• Carry out RIV inspections where applicable.
• Communicate with service team and advisors.
• Provide accurate estimates and vehicle reports to the service advisor.
• Report unsafe vehicles to management.
• Ensure compliance with Health and Safety regulations.

Responsibilities

• Perform customer vehicle basic maintenance and repairs, as requested (lube, oil and filter changes / remove, install, rotate and balance tires / basic repairs, maintenance and inspections that do not require the presence of a Licensed Automobile Technician, etc.).
• Administer drive clean emission tests (only in specific provinces).
• Perform Registered Imported Vehicles (RIV) inspections.
• Communicate with Service Manager/Service Advisors/Licensed Automobile Technicians and Back Parts Window Associate.
• Provide accurate estimates and written vehicle reports to the Service Advisor.
• Ensure that an unsafe vehicle is reported to management and vehicle owner.
• Ensure compliance with Health and Safety regulations.

Requirements / Skills

• Valid driver’s license for province of employment and have a clean driver abstract
• Ability to handle physical demands including standing/walking for 8 hours while frequently lifting and carrying items, twisting, turning and reaching
• Ability to work shifts (days, evenings, week-ends and holidays)
• Approachable
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to find solutions to problems, adapt and cope with challenging situations and make decisions
• Knowledge of current automobile technology
