Job summary

The Licensed Automotive Technician at Canadian Tire Store S works in a fast-paced auto service environment, providing expertise in automotive systems, diagnostics and repairs. The role involves performing inspections, estimates and repairs, and communicating clearly with customers and the service team.

Qualifications

• Valid mechanic’s licence and driver’s licence for province of employment.
• Physical demands: standing/walking for 8 hours, lifting and carrying items.
• Shifts: days, evenings, weekends and holidays.
• Approachable and customer-focused.
• Works well in fast-paced environment.
• Able to solve problems and make decisions under pressure.
• Knowledge of current automobile technology.
• Experience with computerized systems.
• Results-oriented approach to repairs and service.
• Excellent communication and instruction skills.
• Experience in a Canadian Tire Automotive Service Centre is an asset.
• Good working knowledge of COSTAR is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Greet customers, explain procedures and repairs and discuss any additional maintenance work.
• Perform vehicle inspections, diagnostics, estimates and repairs.
• Complete and review repair orders and vehicle inspection reports with Service Advisors.
• Communicate with Service Manager, Service Advisors, Installer and Parts personnel.
• Provide accurate estimates and written vehicle reports.
• Ensure unsafe vehicles are reported to management and owners.
• Stay current with operation, maintenance and repair knowledge.
• Ensure compliance with Health and Safety regulations.

Responsibilities

• Greet, assist in explaining procedures and repairs and any additional required maintenance work, and thank customers in a friendly manner.
• Perform accurate and complete vehicle inspections, diagnostics, estimates and repairs.
• Complete and review repair orders and vehicle inspection reports with Service Advisors.
• Communicate with Service Manager/Service Advisors/Installer and Back Parts Window Associate.
• Provide accurate estimates and written vehicle reports.
• Ensure that an unsafe vehicle is reported to management and vehicle owner.
• Remain current with up-to-date knowledge of the operation, maintenance and repair of most vehicles.
• Ensure compliance with Health and Safety regulations.

Requirements / Skills

• Valid mechanic”s licence and driver”s licence for province of employment.
