Job summary

Canadian Tire Auto Service – Leitrim, Ottawa, ON is hiring an Automotive Service Technician to join our busy team.

Apprentices are encouraged to apply, with support through the Automotive Service Technician Apprenticeship. You will perform maintenance, inspections and basic repairs, communicate with the Service Manager and Advisors, and help ensure safety and quality on every vehicle.

Qualifications

• Valid driver’s license for province of employment.
• Ability to work shifts including weekends and holidays.
• Knowledge of current automobile technology.
• Experience in a similar role is an asset.
• Good working knowledge of COSTAR is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Perform customer vehicle basic maintenance and repairs, as requested (lube, oil and filter changes / remove, install, rotate and balance tires / basic repairs, maintenance and inspections that do not require the presence of a Licensed Automobile Technician, etc.).
• Administer drive clean emission tests (only in specific provinces).
• Perform Registered Imported Vehicles (RIV) inspections.
• Communicate with Service Manager/Service Advisors/Licensed Automobile Technicians and Back Parts Window Associate.
• Provide accurate estimates and written vehicle reports to the Service Advisor.
• Ensure that an unsafe vehicle is reported to management and vehicle owner.
• Ensure compliance with Health and Safety regulations.
• Perform exhaust system repairs and replacement.
• Perform four-wheel alignments and suspension adjustments (training available).
• Diagnose drivability concerns using scan tools and diagnostic equipment.
• Perform brake inspections and repairs, including pads, rotors, calipers, drums, and hydraulic components.

Requirements / Skills

• Ability to work shifts (days, evenings, week-ends and holidays)

• Knowledge of current automobile technology
