Job summary

Canadian Tire Stores is seeking a Licensed Automotive Technician on a full-time/apprenticeship/permanent basis in Canada. You’ll work in a fast-paced auto service environment, diagnosing and repairing vehicles, while delivering exceptional customer service.

The role emphasizes ongoing training, career growth, and a supportive, diverse workplace. Requirements include being a 2nd or 3rd year apprentice, ability to handle physical demands, and a valid driver’s licence.

Qualifications

  • 2nd or 3rd year apprentice in automotive service.
  • Able to work shifts including weekends and holidays.
  • Knowledge of COSTAR is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Greet and assist customers, explain repairs and maintenance.
  • Perform vehicle inspections, diagnostics, estimates and repairs.
  • Review repair orders with Service Advisors.
  • Communicate with Service Manager and installers, provide accurate reports.
  • Ensure unsafe vehicles are reported and safety regulations followed.

Responsibilities:
  • Greet, assist in explaining procedures and repairs and any additional required maintenance work, and thank customers in a friendly manner.
  • Perform accurate and complete vehicle inspections, diagnostics, estimates and repairs.
  • Complete and review repair orders and vehicle inspection reports with Service Advisors.
  • Communicate with Service Manager/Service Advisors/Installer and Back Parts Window Associate.
  • Provide accurate estimates and written vehicle reports.
  • Ensure that an unsafe vehicle is reported to management and vehicle owner.
  • Remain current with up-to-date knowledge of the operation, maintenance and repair of most vehicles.
  • Ensure compliance with Health and Safety regulations.
Requirements / Skills
  • 2nd or 3rd year apprentice
  • Ability to handle physical demands including standing/walking for 8 hours while frequently lifting and carrying items, twisting, turning and reaching
  • Ability to work shifts (days, evenings, week-ends and holidays)
  • Approachable
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to find solutions to problems, adapt and cope with challenging situations and make decisions
  • Knowledge of current automobile technology
  • Ability to work effectively with computerized systems
  • Results-oriented
  • Effective communication skills and ability to give precise instructions
  • Experience in a similar role, in a Canadian Tire Automotive Service Centre, is considered an asset
  • Good working knowledge of COSTAR is considered an asset
