Job summary

GardaWorld is seeking an Assistant Operations Manager to lead day‑to‑day delivery of a high-security contract in the Surrey/Vancouver area. You will work closely with the Operations Manager, Shift Supervisors, and frontline teams to ensure staffing, training, and adherence to standards.

You'll mentor supervisors, monitor scheduling and compliance, and step into Operations Manager duties when needed. A hands‑on leader who thrives on solving problems will fit this dynamic security environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of management experience in security services or similar environments.
• Experience coaching, mentoring, and leading supervisors or frontline teams.
• Strong knowledge of security operations and service delivery.
• Experience with scheduling, staffing, training, compliance, and documentation.
• Excellent problem-solving and decision-making in fast-paced settings.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong organizational skills; ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Willingness to work hands-on in field-based leadership and site visits.
• BC Security Worker Licence is required; AST/First Aid/CPR is assets.

Responsibilities

• Support the Operations Manager with day-to-day management and delivery of security services.
• Mentor and coach Shift Supervisors; help them succeed in leadership roles.
• Monitor scheduling and invoicing; address discrepancies for smooth operations.
• Ensure personnel meet qualifications, training, licensing, and requirements.
• Identify and resolve operational issues; provide orientation to new staff.
• Identify training gaps; conduct audits; keep employees trained and qualified.
• Ensure adherence to SOPs and site requirements across locations.
• Conduct supervisory visits to assess service delivery and opportunities for improvement.
• Perform off-site quality control visits at hubs, offices, and other locations.
• Provide ongoing coaching and training to staff; escalate issues when needed.
• Proactively solve problems and propose practical improvements.
• Take corrective action for performance concerns; document and escalate as needed.
• Support Operations Manager during absences and assume responsibilities when required.
• Maintain professional appearance and uniform standards.
• Prepare operational reports and documentation; participate in meetings.
• Build relationships with frontline teams, stakeholders, and clients.

As anAssistant Operations Manager (AOM), you’ll play a critical role in supporting the day-to‑day delivery of a large, high-security contract while working closely with the Operations Manager, Shift Supervisors, and frontline security teams.

This is a hands‑on leadership position where no two days are the same. You’ll be out in the field, supporting supervisors, ensuring teams are properly staffed and trained, addressing operational challenges, conducting quality control visits, and making sure our teams are consistently delivering the high standards our clients expect.

You’ll be a key point of contact for frontline leadership and will have the opportunity to step into the Operations Manager’s responsibilities when required. Assistant Operations Manager key responsibilities:

• Support the Operations Manager with the day-to‑day management and delivery of security services
• Mentor, coach, and provide ongoing support to Shift Supervisors, helping them succeed in their leadership roles
• Monitor scheduling and invoicing accuracy and promptly address discrepancies to ensure smooth operations
• Ensure security personnel assigned to the contract meet all required qualifications, training, licensing, and operational requirements
• Identify, document, and resolve operational issues while ensuring appropriate follow‑up and escalationProvide orientation and operational guidance to new security personnel joining the team
• Identify training gaps, conduct audits, and work with leadership to ensure employees remain properly trained and qualified
• Ensure Shift Supervisors and security personnel consistently follow established operating procedures and site requirements
• Conduct regular supervisory visits to operational posts to assess service delivery, support frontline teams, and identify opportunities for improvement
• Conduct off‑site quality control visits, including at transportation hubs, offices, and other operational locations, to ensure teams are meeting required standards
• Provide ongoing coaching, assistance, and training to Shift Supervisors and frontline personnel
• Take a proactive approach to problem‑solving by identifying operational challenges and recommending practical solutions to improve service delivery
• Take immediate corrective action when service delivery or performance concerns are identified, while ensuring appropriate documentation and escalation
• Support the Operations Manager during periods of absence and assume Operations Manager responsibilities when required
• Ensure Shift Supervisors and security personnel maintain professional appearance and comply with uniform standards
• Prepare and maintain required operational reports and documentation
• Participate in scheduled operational meetings and provide updates on service delivery, staffing, training, and performance
• Build strong working relationships with frontline teams, internal stakeholders, and client representatives
• Support other operational initiatives and responsibilities as required

What you bring:

• Minimum 2 years of management experience in security services, law enforcement, corrections, military, or another directly related environment with responsibility for overseeing employees
• Experience leading, coaching, and mentoring supervisors or frontline teams
• Strong understanding of security operations and service delivery
• Experience with scheduling, staffing, training, compliance, and operational documentation
• Strong problem‑solving and decision‑making skills, with the ability to take action in fast‑paced situations
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
• Comfortable working in a hands‑on, field‑based leadership role and conducting regular site visits
• Ability to work flexible hours and respond to operational requirements outside of standard business hours when required
• Valid BC Security Worker Licence
• Valid Advanced Security Training (AST) Certification - an asset
• Valid Standard First Aid with CPR and AED
• Valid security‑related use‑of‑force training - an asset
• Valid driver's licence and ability to travel between operational locations
• Secondary school diploma or Canadian equivalent
• Legally authorized to work in Canada
• Ability to successfully complete all required screening and contract‑mandated qualifications
