Job summary

GardaWorld is seeking an Operations Supervisor (Nights) in Halifax, Nova Scotia. You will plan, organize and manage the work of unionized employees, ensuring adherence to policies, safety rules, and collective agreements.

This role requires collaboration with other supervisors, monitoring budgets, and investigating customer or shipper complaints. You will promote safe practices, mentor staff, and support a dynamic, international security organization offering long-term career opportunities.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in personnel management in a unionized environment.
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook.
  • Valid Class 5 Drivers License with 6 or less demerits.
  • Possession of a valid Non-Restricted and Restricted Firearms License (PAL).
  • Very good leadership, negotiation, and judgment skills.
  • Strong focus on teamwork and partnership.
  • Sense of urgency, exceptional communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Critical thinking and active listening developed.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize and manage the work of unionized employees.
  • Ensure that staff members comply with policies, administrative procedures, safety rules, collective agreements and government regulations.
  • Act as a resource person for all employees in the assigned territory.
  • Collaborate with other supervisors and staff to establish and implement policies, procedures and objectives.
  • Promote safe work practices, by conducting safety audits, participating in company safety meetings, and meeting one-on-one with staff members.
  • Monitor expenditures to ensure compliance with approved budgets.
  • Conduct investigations to verify and resolve customer or shipper complaints.
  • Collaborate with internal or external stakeholders to determine the causes of accidents that occur during transport and improve safety procedures.
  • Fill-in on Armored and/or ATM routes when needed
  • Participate in the disciplinary process or the settlement of grievances.
  • All other related tasks.
