Job summary

YMCA Calgary is seeking an Arts Program Coordinator (Part-Time) to serve at North YMCA Locations. The role includes administrative duties, gallery setup, and instructing Arts classes (1–3 daily). A flexible schedule, including days/evenings/weekends, is required, with a strong emphasis on member service and community engagement.

The candidate will coordinate programming, maintain certification records, and support staff and volunteers while contributing to the YMCA’s mission in Calgary.

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary degree or degree in progress in Fine Arts and/or Education.
  • Minimum two years’ administrative experience; minimum one-year supervisory experience.
  • Interest/background in Fine Arts and Education and within several fields of Fine Arts.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out administrative tasks including scheduling, payroll, hiring packages, filing, program space maintenance, certification records, and data entry.
  • Assist in set up and strike of Gallery Exhibitions.
  • Instruct a variety of Arts classes (1–3 classes per day).
  • Ensure excellent member service by addressing needs and concerns promptly.

Arts Program Coordinator (Part-Time)

Salary: $20.35/hour - $22.61/hour


Start Date: Immediately


End Date: June 30th, 2027 with possibility of extension


Hours: 15 hours per week

What qualifications are we looking for?


  • Post-secondary degree or degree in progress in Fine Arts and/or Education

  • Minimum two years’ administrative experience; minimum one-year supervisory experience

  • Interest/background in Fine Arts and Education and within several fields of Fine Arts

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook (experience Avanti is an asset)

  • Ability to work flexible hours including daytime, evenings and weekends as required to meet programming needs.

  • Current Standard First Aid with CPR-C certificated within the last 12 months from an approved AB OHS provider. Asset if certification is issued by one of the following five Canadian organizations: Canadian Red Cross, Heart and Stroke Foundation, Lifesaving Society, St John's Ambulance and/or Canadian Ski Patrol.

  • Ability to transit to various branches as needed.

  • Evidence of a clear Police Information Check and Vulnerable Sector Search

  • Three professional references


What does this role look like at YMCA Calgary?


  • Carry out administrative tasks including but not limited to scheduling, payroll, hiring packages, filing, program space maintenance, maintaining certification records, collection of statistics and data entry

  • Assist in set up and strike of Gallery Exhibitions

  • Instruct a variety of Arts classes. This could range between 1 and 3 classes per day.

  • Ensure excellent quality member service by identifying the needs and wants of members and participants as priority and respond to their concerns in an effective, and timely manner

  • Effectively communicate in a variety of methods and settings

  • Assist with recruitment, training and orientation of volunteers and staff

  • Ensure programs and run as scheduled, providing coverage for classes and arts related events and activities

  • Take an active role in planning, promoting and facilitating YMCA initiatives and special events such as, Community Wellness Days, fundraisers and other events

  • Community Engagement

  • Support the general manager of the branch in ensuring the YMCA has a positive presence in the local community

  • Fund Development

  • Participate in the Staff and Volunteer aspect of the Annual Campaign
