The Regional District of Nanaimo is seeking a permanent part-time Arena Maintenance Worker Trainee with the Recreation department, based at Oceanside Place in Parksville, BC. Under the supervision of the Superintendent of Arena Services and the functional direction of the Chief Facilities Operator, the Maintenance Worker Trainee performs a variety of unskilled and semi-skilled tasks in Arena Maintenance operations and contributes to the effective operation of the Recreation department by assisting in the maintenance, cleaning and preparation of the facility and ice/dry floor surfaces.
Required qualifications include high school diploma, one year of prior job-related experience, and the ability and desire to obtain the Refrigeration Operators Certificate. An equivalent combination of training and experience may be considered.
This is a permanent part-time Union position with varied hours of work including evenings and weekends. The (2025) rate of pay is $30.79 to $32.41. The position offers an attractive benefits package as provided within the collective agreement between the Regional District of Nanaimo and the Canadian Union of Public Employees, Local 401.
