Overview

D.F. Boiler Tube Industries Inc. is an Alberta based company that operates an ABSA approved facility with the expertise to design, manufacture, fabricate, alter, test and install pressure and non‑pressure components. Our field operations provide mechanical services for scheduled, unscheduled and emergency repairs. Through consistent and thoughtful growth over the past 25 years, we have gained a reputation throughout North America as the place to obtain the “hard to find” pressure components. We work with over 100 manufacturers, fabricators and steel mills to give unparalleled emergency and ongoing service.

Position

Accounting Manager

Responsibilities
  • Plan, direct and implement all company accounting programs and activities
  • Maintain the Company’s system of accounts and ensure accurate records for all transactions and assets
  • Direct and provide employees with accounting procedures and training in system applications
  • Ensure the accounting department follows generally accepted accounting principles
  • Supervise and manage the accounting team and promote cohesive achievement of department deliverables
  • Oversee personnel actions for accounting staff in conjunction with Company ownership
  • Prepare monthly financial reporting including income statement and balance sheet
  • Provide financial analysis of operations, budget variance analysis and KPI reporting
  • Maintain fiscal records and prepare financial reports
  • Oversee full cycle accounting, internal auditing, cost accounting and budgetary controls
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable taxes, levies and filing requirements
  • Coordinate and supervise payroll for salaried and hourly employees
  • Supervise accounts receivable and accounts payable activities
  • Prepare and reconcile corporate cash activities, including cash application and bank reconciliations
Qualifications
  • Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation
  • Minimum 4 years of progressive accounting experience, including supervisory/management experience
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial statement preparation, schedules, reports and auditing practices
  • Background in an industrial manufacturing environment is strongly preferred
  • Intermediate computer skills including Excel, Access, Word and general accounting and inventory software
  • Experience with payroll applications and systems
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
  • Excellent analytical and organizational skills; ability to plan, manage multiple projects, prioritize and meet deadlines
  • Strong follow-up skills with a focus on timely resolution
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication and listening skills
  • Customer-focused with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively
  • Ability to work independently under pressure
