A post-secondary institution in Canada is seeking an Academic Advisor to support learners through their academic lifecycle. The role involves advising on educational progression, creating individual success plans, and ensuring learners understand program requirements. Candidates should have a relevant undergraduate degree and at least three years of experience in academic advising. Knowledge of First Nations cultures is a plus. Travel may be required for the position.
Established in 1976 the Saskatchewan Indian Institute of Technologies (SIIT) is a First Nation governed post-secondary institution. The Academics Advisor focuses on supporting learners through the academic lifecycle at SIIT. This position will positively promote and create an environment that demonstrates SIIT\'s vision, mission, and mandate.
The Academic Advisor will play a key role by assessing and advising current learners at SIIT with regards to their educational progression. The Advisor will increase learner success by helping them make informed decisions about their educational goals.
The incumbent is responsible for providing support services required by a learner such as exploring education and academic goals, identifying program and course requirements, and potential support services required to successfully transition into an employable individual or onto further post-secondary education. This position is accountable for follow-up with all SIIT learners, and ensuring they are progressing through their academic careers. This position provides additional support as required. Required Qualifications and Experience: Undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline. Minimum of three years\' experience working with learners in an academic advisory capacity. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Knowledge of First Nations cultures and organizations would be an asset. Incumbent must have a valid driver\'s license and reliable transportation as travel is required.
