Qualifications

  • Grade 12 diploma or equivalent or post-secondary education recognized by Ontario MOE.
  • Minimum 6 months’ work experience to develop team-based skills.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills; able to be assertive and respectful with the public.
  • Ability to react quickly and calmly in stressful situations.
  • Must have a strong sense of urgency.
  • Typing speed of at least 40 WPM; pass CritiCall Testing.

Responsibilities

  • Transmit information from the public to police.
  • Monitor up to 33 radio channels and up to 6 computer screens.
  • Answer all emergency and non-emergency calls and coordinate responses.
  • Receive and transmit information for dispatch to police units.
  • Transfer and reroute calls as necessary.
