Job summary

Canadian Nuclear Laboratories seeks a Mechanical Engineering student for the 2027 Winter Student Program at the Chalk River Laboratories. You will join the Decommissioning and Environmental Remediation Engineering team to support control changes, prepare design calculations, and help develop engineering specifications during a four-month term.

The role requires enrollment in a mechanical engineering program, strong MS Office skills, and clear written and verbal communication.

Qualifications

  • Enrolled in a University Mechanical Engineering program.
  • Proficient with MS Office, especially Excel.
  • Security clearance eligibility: Reliability Status with Site Access (SASC) minimum 3–5 years Canadian history.

Responsibilities

  • Support configuration management and change control.
  • Prepare design documentation including calculations, reports, memos under supervision of a Senior Engineer.
  • Contribute to engineering specifications in support of decommissioning work.
  • Perform engineering reviews and calculations under supervision of a Senior Engineer.
  • Assist with other duties as assigned by management.

Can you see yourself working alongside experienced engineers and technical professionals to develop solutions for complex decommissioning and environmental remediation challenges? Our Chalk River Laboratories location is looking for an Mechanical Engineering Student to join the Decommissioning and Environmental Remediation Engineering team.

What you will be doing!
  • Supporting configuration management and change control.

What we are looking for:

    • Enrolled in a University Mechanical Engineering Program .
  • Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
    • Proficient in MS Office Suite in particular Excel.
    • Excellent verbal and writing communications skills.
    • Excellent Teamwork skills.
  • Security Clearance Eligibility Required
    • Reliability Status with Site Access Security Clearance (SASC), which has a minimum requirement of 3-5 years of verifiable history in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the United States and/or the United Kingdom. CNL implements security screening in accordance with the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat's “Standard on Security Screening” and the “Policy on Government Security.”
Working Conditions:
  • Working schedule: Four (4) days per week, ten (10) hours per day for a forty (40) hour work week.
