Job summary

Canadian Nuclear Laboratories in Chalk River, Ontario, invites a Design Student for a 4‑month Winter Student Program. You will support the Maintenance & Configuration Engineering team by updating drawings with CAD, updating master equipment lists in Avantis, and assisting engineers in verifying configurations.

This hybrid on-site/remote role offers hands-on learning, exposure to system configuration recovery, and progress reporting to leaders.

Qualifications

  • Enrolled in a College or University Engineering or Technology Program.
  • Working knowledge of drafting techniques and practices.
  • Working knowledge of drafting software.
  • Demonstrated strong organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated excellent communication skills.
  • Possess good computer skills.

Responsibilities

  • Completing drawing updates to reflect the as-built configuration using CAD.

  • Performing team field walk-downs to determine system configuration and gather information.

Are you looking for an opportunity to gain hands‑on experience in engineering and technology while contributing to meaningful work? Can you see yourself learning how engineering designs evolve from concept to implementation while working alongside experienced professionals? If you answered yes, this may be the opportunity you're looking for. As our Maintenance and Configuration Engineering team is looking for a Student to support engineering activities in a hybrid on‑site/remote work environment.

Duration: 4 Months (January - April)
Field of Study: Engineering or Technology
Year of study: 1st year or higher

What you will be doing!

  • Security Clearance Eligibility Required
    • Reliability Status with Site Access Security Clearance (SASC), which has a minimum requirement of 3-5 years of verifiable history in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the United States and/or the United Kingdom. CNL implements security screening in accordance with the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat's “Standard on Security Screening” and the “Policy on Government Security.”
Working Conditions:
  • Working schedule: Five (5) days per week, seven and a half (7.5) hours per day for a thirty-seven and a half (37.5) hour work week.
