Are you looking for an opportunity to apply your engineering knowledge to meaningful projects that support environmental stewardship and the safe management of nuclear liabilities? Can you see yourself working alongside experienced engineers and technical professionals to develop solutions for complex decommissioning and environmental remediation challenges? Our Chalk River Laboratories location is looking for an Civil Engineering Student to join the Decommissioning and Environmental Remediation Engineering team.

Duration: 4 Months (January - April)
Field of Study: Civil/Structural or Geotechnical Engineering
Year of study: 2nd year or higher

What you will be doing!
  • Supporting configuration management and change control.
  • Preparing design documentation including calculations, reports, memos under the supervision of a Senior Engineer.
  • Contributing to the preparation of engineering specifications in support to decommissioning work.
  • Performing engineering reviews and calculations under the supervision of a Senior Engineer.
  • Other duties as assigned by your manager.
What we are looking for:
  • Education
    • Enrolled in a University Civil, Structural, or Geotechnical Engineering Program .
  • Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
    • Proficient in MS Office Suite in particular Excel.
    • Excellent verbal and writing communications skills.
    • Excellent Teamwork skills.
  • Security Clearance Eligibility Required
    • Reliability Status with Site Access Security Clearance (SASC), which has a minimum requirement of 3-5 years of verifiable history in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the United States and/or the United Kingdom. CNL implements security screening in accordance with the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat's “Standard on Security Screening” and the “Policy on Government Security.”
Working Conditions:
  • Working schedule: Four (4) days per week, ten (10) hours per day for a forty (40) hour work week.
