Job summary

Canadian Nuclear Laboratories is seeking a Computer Software and Systems Developer student to contribute to software solutions across data acquisition, facility surveillance, asset management, and reporting. You will participate in customer meetings, plan with the team, and help deploy new and existing applications from development to deployment.

The role emphasizes learning, collaboration, and delivering high-quality customer-focused software in an on-site Chalk River environment in Ontario.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a College or University program in Computer Science
• Software Engineering
• Computer Engineering
• Information Technology or a related discipline
• Experience gained through academic projects, co-op placements, internships, research activities, or personal projects related to software development, databases, or web development
• Experience developing software applications using object-oriented programming principles is considered an asset

What we are looking for:

• Education

• Experience

• Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the C# programming language.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server, including SQL Server Management Studio and SQL Server Reporting Services.
  • Applied understanding of relational database design principles.
  • Working knowledge of web application technologies including HTML, CSS, PHP, Java, and Bootstrap.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel and VBA.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to gather, analyze, and document business and technical requirements.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple assignments and meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrated commitment to delivering high-quality customer-focused solutions.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
• Security Clearance Eligibility Required
  • Reliability Status with Site Access Security Clearance (SASC), which has a minimum requirement of 3-5 years of verifiable history in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the United States and/or the United Kingdom. CNL implements security screening in accordance with the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat's “Standard on Security Screening” and the “Policy on Government Security.”

Working Conditions:

• Working schedule: Four (4) days per week, ten (10) hours per day for a forty (40) hour work week.
