Qualifications

Responsibilities

All students applying for student positions at CNL must be returning to full‑time studies upon completion of their work term. Exceptions will be made for students who require a work term to graduate.

Department: Decommissioning & Environmental Remediation Integration

Duration: 4 Months (January-April)
Field of Study: Mechatronics, Mechanical or Civil Engineering, Computer Science, Engineering Technology, or another related engineering discipline.
Year of study: 2nd or 3rd year

What you will be doing!

Assisting with the development of virtual reality (VR) technologies, geometric models, and 3D designs to enhance Point Cloud models.

Supporting the integration of sensors, user interfaces, robotics technologies, and laser scanning systems.

Assisting with CAD design and 3D modeling activities for a variety of engineering and technology projects.

Participating in project schedule reviews and supporting project activities to help achieve established goals and objectives.

Assisting with the preparation of technical documentation and the communication of project progress within the team.

Attending meetings with technical staff and management to support project planning and execution activities.

Supporting project teams through research, data collection, and technical problem‑solving activities.

What we are looking for:
  • Education
    • Assisting with the development of virtual reality (VR) technologies, geometric models, and 3D designs to enhance Point Cloud models.
    • Supporting the integration of sensors, user interfaces, robotics technologies, and laser scanning systems.
    • Assisting with CAD design and 3D modeling activities for a variety of engineering and technology projects.

  • Experience
    • Experience gained through academic projects, extracurricular activities, personal projects, research, or co‑op placements related to robotics, programming, engineering, or technology development.
    • Experience using CAD or 3D modeling software is considered an asset.
  • Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
    • Demonstrated oral and written communication skills.
    • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively within a collaborative team environment.
    • Basic proficiency using 3D modeling software such as Autodesk Inventor, SketchUp, or similar platforms.
    • Demonstrated interest in robotics, automation, and emerging technologies.
    • Basic knowledge of computer programming principles and robotics systems.
    • Working knowledge of Robot Operating System (ROS) is required.
    • Applied computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
    • Demonstrated ability to learn quickly and work independently when gathering information and completing assigned tasks.
    • Proven ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a project environment.
  • Security Clearance Eligibility Required
    • Reliability Status with Site Access Security Clearance (SASC), which has a minimum requirement of 3-5 years of verifiable history in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the United States and/or the United Kingdom. CNL implements security screening in accordance with the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat's “Standard on Security Screening” and the “Policy on Government Security.”
Working Conditions:
  • Working schedule: Four (4) days per week, ten (10) hours per day for a forty (40) hour work week.
