Job summary

Canadian Nuclear Laboratories in Whiteshell, Manitoba, is seeking an Environmental Data Entry Student to support the Environmental Data Management System by managing critical data related to water effluent, air emissions, and soil remediation projects.

The role requires enrollment in post-secondary studies related to data science or environmental fields, with experience in GIS and data management tools. This is a fully onsite 4-month term (Jan–Apr) at the Whiteshell site.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in post-secondary studies related to Data science, GIS, Mapping, Statistics, Biology, Chemistry, Environmental Science or Science.
• Experience with data management languages (R, Python), GIS (ArcGIS, QGIS), and database management (EQuIS Enterprise) is an asset.
• Working knowledge of data management, data stewardship and integrity, metadata management, Microsoft Office applications (Excel), GIS, and quality assurance checks.

Responsibilities

• Preparing data templates (EDD) for upload.
• Maintaining version control and file structure.
• Verifying data accuracy, completeness and consistency.
• Investigating automated processes to optimize the data upload process.
• Other duties as assigned by your manager.

  • Demonstrated strong attention to detail, a positive attitude, excellent organizational skills, a strong work ethic, and the ability to work independently while maintaining accuracy and confidentiality are highly valued.
• Security Clearance Eligibility Required
  • Reliability Status with Site Access Security Clearance (SASC), which has a minimum requirement of 3-5 years of verifiable history in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the United States and/or the United Kingdom. CNL implements security screening in accordance with the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat's “Standard on Security Screening” and the “Policy on Government Security.”
    

Working Conditions:

• Working schedule: Four (4) days per week, ten (10) hours per day for a forty (40) hour work week.
