Job summary

Canadian Nuclear Laboratories is offering a Winter Student Program for a Stem Cell Biology student at Chalk River, Ontario. The role requires working five days per week, 7.5 hours daily, for a four-month term (January–April).

You will follow detailed instructions, perform experiments, and analyze data using Python and statistics tools. Reporting will be in Word/PowerPoint/Excel, with opportunities for meetings and training.

Qualifications

  • Enrolled in a university program; applicants should be Biology, Immunology, or Microbiology majors, or computational majors with special emphasis in Bioinformatics.
  • Experience with related software such as Python, PRISM, GraphPad, Adobe Illustrator, and Microsoft Access will also be considered when reviewing applications.
  • Excellent research and presentation skills; knowledge of statistics.

  • Following detailed written and verbal instructions under supervision, as well as conducting experiments independently once trained.

All students applying for student positions at CNL must be returning to full-time studies upon completion of their work term. Exceptions will be made for students who require a work term to graduate.

Duration: 4 Months (January - April)
Field of Study:Cellular and Molecular Medicine (CMM), Biochemistry, Microbiology and Immunology (BMI), or Cell and Molecular Biology
Year of study: 4th year or higher


What you will be doing!

  • Security Clearance Eligibility Required
    • Reliability Status with Site Access Security Clearance (SASC), which has a minimum requirement of 3-5 years of verifiable history in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the United States and/or the United Kingdom. CNL implements security screening in accordance with the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat's “Standard on Security Screening” and the “Policy on Government Security.”

Working Conditions:

  • Working schedule: Five (5) days per week, seven and a half (7.5) hours per day for a thirty-seven and a half (37.5) hour work week.
