ENGENHEIRO PRINCIPAL DE SEGURANÇA DE PROCESSOS / Process Safety Principal Engineer
Responsible for being Technical Reference and Local Legal Responsible, within the Process Safety discipline, focusing on long‑term strategies, governance, technical guidelines, projects, and action plans, which includes the evaluation and identification of improvements in business value, compliance, and technical safety, in order to ensure fleet performance improvement by considering best practices in all MODEC Group shared as common practices, as well as promoting research and development.
Responsibilities and assignments
We are looking for a Process Safety Principal Engineer to work in our Base in RIO DE JANEIRO, RJ developing activities such as:
- Guarantee the continuous improvement of IMS by monitoring project status and ensuring that IMS documents under the Process Safety discipline are updated and implemented.
- Support MdB's corporate annual budget planning (expenses and investments) by participating and guiding the team about the corporate planning, providing information about workforce planning for the Process Safety discipline and about resources, services and materials needs and other expenses used in its activities.
- Contribute to MODEC participation in BIDs, by supporting the preparation/development of new projects together with the MOPS/MII/MINC/Pre‑Ops team, by bringing technical and operational experience to the new projects in development, assuring technical excellence in all deliverables.
- Ensure knowledge management, which includes monitoring its starts, actions taken, knowledge database maintenance, as well as auditing the inclusion of the forms in the system, by sharing lessons learned among the MODEC Operations Fleet and Sister companies, and by being responsible for extracting, listing up, reviewing, and verifying all lessons learned from operations experience.
- Ensure technical support to, for a specific case to be defined by proper procedure (boundary scope), by acting as Technical Reference to assist in the response of MOCs, TQs, RCAs, CAPA, NOI and safety studies recommendations.
- Contribute to develop and maintain Global Design Philosophy & Functional Specifications, by reviewing and/or updating each assigned document.
- Develop and improve all the technical/business lifecycle guide/process/procedures from BID, EPCI, Pre‑Ops, operation, maintenance, and decommissioning, by actively participating on all phases of Projects, constantly monitoring, and analyzing all standards and guidelines defined for Process coordination, as well as proposing and elaborating action plans for the Technical Recommendations received from other Tiers.
- Maximize business lifecycle value and ensure fleet performance improvement, by developing and researching new technologies, proposing KPIs, providing technical guidance on issues related to the Process Safety discipline, and on action plans of continuous improvement.
- Analyze and guide the development of strategic documents related to the Process Safety discipline such as philosophies, guidelines, and technical notes in order to maintain fleet compliance to regulations, industry standards and global MODEC policies, and to enhance Offshore Units operations based on lessons learned applicable to the MdB fleet.
- Contribute to fleet improvement changes by guiding and validating the development of engineering basic design and estimating man‑hour for high‑risk modification projects related to the Process Safety disciplines, guaranteeing that the modification will attend MODEC/International standards and Classified Society.
- Support internal, external, and regulatory audits, by providing engineering technical expertise on the Process Safety discipline.
Requirements and qualifications
- Valid CREA registration is mandatory.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience.
- Previous experience in Offshore/Onshore Oil & Gas area is expected, as well as experience with ANP.
- Prior experience in FPSOs is expected.
- Postgraduate studies in areas related to the discipline of expertise are expected.
- MBA or equivalent is a plus.
- Advanced English is mandatory. Fluency is a plus.
- Experience with CMMS software (e.g., SAP) is expected.
- Basic Hazard Analysis Software knowledge is a competitive edge (PHA Pro Tool preferred).
- Basic Visual Risk Assessment Software knowledge is a competitive edge (Bowtie XP preferred).
- Basic Consequence Modelling Software is a competitive edge (e.g., DNV PHAST).
