Job summary

EmpHire, on behalf of a major Belgian financial institution, seeks a Functional Lead – Internal Audit to guide the audit team, ensure quality deliverables, and support senior management in shaping the department's strategy.

The role requires strong knowledge of internal audit and risk management, with fluency in Dutch and French and English, and willingness to travel between Belgian offices.

Qualifications

• Master's degree or equivalent professional experience in financial services.
• Formal audit leadership or coordination experience desirable.
• Knowledge of internal audit principles and risk management.

Responsibilities

• Provide functional leadership across audit domains and oversee audit delivery.
• Coach auditors through the full audit lifecycle from planning to reporting.
• Review audit plans, testing approaches, findings and final reports.
• Ensure compliance with IIA standards and internal methodologies.
• Monitor quality and consistency of audit findings and documentation.
• Coordinate annual audit cycle across business areas.
• Maintain understanding of risks and developments across domains.
• Build relationships with business teams and risk/compliance functions.
• Contribute to improving audit methodologies and processes.
• Support Chief Audit Executive with strategic and operational activities for senior management and Audit Committee.
