Job summary

BDO Belgium co is seeking an Internal Audit Manager focused on Financial Services to grow the Internal Audit offering within the Business Risk team. You will lead engagements and develop sector knowledge for banking and insurance clients.

You will manage and expand our Financial Services client portfolio, build a dedicated Financial Services Internal Audit team, and contribute to proposals and client pitches while broadening our regulatory and governance service offerings.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in business administration, law, economics, management, finance, or a related field.
• Minimum 6 years of relevant experience in Internal Audit, Internal Control or a similar field, including substantial experience with banking and/or insurance clients.

Responsibilities

• Lead, execute and report on risk-based internal audits for banking and insurance clients.
• Help banking and insurance clients strengthen their governance, risk management and internal control frameworks, taking account of their business models and regulatory context and considering automation where appropriate.
• Help professionalise our Financial Services Internal Audit offering by developing consistent methodologies, audit programmes, reporting practices and quality review processes; take responsibility for engagement delivery and the quality of the team’s work.
• Help manage the existing Financial Services client portfolio, coordinating engagement planning, staffing and delivery across concurrent projects and ensuring timely delivery and clear client communication.
• Build a dedicated Financial Services Internal Audit team together with Business Risk leadership, helping recruit, develop and coach colleagues with banking and insurance expertise.
• Act as a trusted relationship manager for banking and insurance clients, deepen existing relationships and identify opportunities to support their evolving Internal Audit needs.
• Drive the further growth of our Financial Services Internal Audit portfolio by identifying opportunities, developing proposals and contributing to client pitches and sector‑focused service development.
• Collect, structure and deepen banking and insurance knowledge within the team, translating relevant regulatory developments, sector risks and good practices into audit approaches and client advice.
• Embed knowledge sharing and continuous improvement through reusable audit tools, sector‑focused training and collaboration with relevant specialists across BDO.
