RE-CO in Adelaide's northern suburbs is seeking a hands-on Site Manager to lead day-to-day operations of a new 10c container deposit and scrap metal recycling facility. You will actively manage staff, support customers, and work with hybrid AI sorting and counting technology to ensure smooth, safe operations.

This role requires hands-on leadership in a fast-paced environment, with willingness to work weekends and outdoors, and a commitment to safety and quality in every transaction.

About the opportunity

An exciting opportunity exists for a motivated, hands-on Site Manager to join RE-CO at our brand-new 10c Container Deposit and Scrap Metal Recycling Facility in Adelaide's northern suburbs.

This is an opportunity to be part of something new, taking responsibility for the day-to-day operation of a modern recycling facility incorporating innovative hybrid AI sorting and counting technology.

Working 4-5 days per week, including both Saturday and Sunday, you will play a key role in managing staff, overseeing daily operations, delivering excellent customer service and ensuring the facility operates safely and efficiently.

This is a hands‑on management position. You won't simply be managing from the sidelines. You'll be actively involved in the operation, assisting customers, supporting staff, sorting and weighing scrap metal and helping ensure the smooth running of the facility.

Key responsibilities

• Managing the day-to-day operations of the recycling facility.
• Supervising, supporting and coordinating staff.

• Managing both the 10c container deposit and scrap metal recycling operations.
• Overseeing cash handling and daily transaction processes.
• Ensuring workplace health and safety procedures are followed at all times.
• Operating forklifts and assisting with the sorting, handling and weighing of scrap metal.
• Assisting customers with unloading vehicles when required.
• Undertaking manual counting and basic calculations where required.
• Maintaining a clean, organised and safe working environment.

About you

To be successful in this role, you will ideally have:

• Previous experience in a supervisory or management position.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• The ability to lead, motivate and work effectively with a team.
• A strong work ethic and a reliable, punctual and responsible attitude.
• The ability to work in a fast‑paced, hands‑on environment.
• A reasonable level of physical fitness and the ability to undertake occasional manual handling and heavy lifting.
• The ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Competent basic maths skills.
• A strong commitment to workplace health and safety.

Highly regarded but not essential

• Experience in the scrap metal, recycling or waste management industry.
• A National Police Check will be required prior to commencement.
