Cleanaway is seeking a motivated MRF Leading Hand to join our operations team in Western Australia on the afternoon shift. The role focuses on safety, operational excellence and leading by example in a fast-paced recycling environment.

Reporting to the MRF Supervisor, you will lead frontline operators, coordinate daily activities, monitor performance, and support maintenance while upholding site procedures and high standards of housekeeping.

• Experience in waste, recycling, manufacturing or processing operations.
• Proven leadership or supervisory experience in an operational environment.
• Strong commitment to workplace health, safety and environmental standards.
• Excellent communication and team leadership skills.
• Competent computer skills and ability to use company systems.
• Availability for the afternoon shift 1:30pm - 11pm.

• Lead and coordinate MRF operators and processing staff to support efficient daily operations.
• Promote a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with site procedures and HSE requirements.
• Monitor processing activities to maximise productivity and material recovery.
• Conduct and assist with pre-start inspections, ensuring plant and equipment are operated safely.
• Train, mentor and support team members to build capability and performance.
• Identify operational issues and work with the management team to implement practical solutions.
• Maintain high housekeeping and site presentation standards.
• Complete daily operational records, inspections and reporting.
• Support maintenance activities and help minimise plant downtime.

The Opportunity

Reporting to the MRF Supervisor, the Resource Facility Operator - Leading Hand will assist with the day-to-day operation of the facility, provide direction and support to team members, and ensure safe and efficient processing of recyclable materials.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate MRF operators and processing staff to support efficient daily operations
• Promote a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with site procedures and HSE requirements
• Monitor processing activities to maximise productivity and material recovery

About you

• Must be available for the afternoon shift 1:30pm - 11pm
• Experience in waste, recycling, manufacturing or processing operations
• Previous experience operating front-end loaders and forklifts
• Proven leadership or supervisory experience in an operational environment
• Strong commitment to workplace health, safety and environmental standards
• Excellent communication and team leadership skills
• Strong problem-solving and organisational skills, with the ability to identify issues and find practical solutions
• Competent computer skills and the ability to confidently use company systems and software
