Cleanaway is seeking a Resource Facility Operator - Leading Hand to support day-to-day operations at our Perth facility, leading a team of MRF operators and handling safety and production targets.

You will supervise front-line staff, promote a strong safety culture, conduct pre-start checks, coordinate tasks, and report on performance while ensuring high housekeeping and compliance.

Resource Facility Operator - Leading Hand

We are currently seeking a motivated MRF Leading Hand to join our operations team.

This is an excellent opportunity for an individual who is passionate about safety, operational excellence, and leading by example in a fast-paced recycling environment.

The Opportunity

Reporting to the MRF Supervisor, the Resource Facility Operator - Leading Hand will assist with the day-to-day operation of the facility, provide direction and support to team members, and ensure safe and efficient processing of recyclable materials.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate MRF operators and processing staff to support efficient daily operations
• Promote a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with site procedures and HSE requirements
• Monitor processing activities to maximise productivity and material recovery
• Conduct and assist with pre-start inspections, ensuring plant and equipment are operated safely
• Train, mentor and support team members to build capability and performance
• Identify operational issues and work with the management team to implement practical solutions
• Maintain high housekeeping and site presentation standards
• Complete daily operational records, inspections and reporting
• Support maintenance activities and help minimise plant downtime

About you

• Must be available for the afternoon shift 1:30pm - 11pm
• Experience in waste, recycling, manufacturing or processing operations
• Previous experience operating front-end loaders and forklifts
• Proven leadership or supervisory experience in an operational environment
• Strong commitment to workplace health, safety and environmental standards
• Excellent communication and team leadership skills
• Strong problem-solving and organisational skills, with the ability to identify issues and find practical solutions
• Competent computer skills and the ability to confidently use company systems and software
