Job summary

Federation Council is seeking a dedicated Water Treatment Plant Operator to join our Engineering Services team. You will operate and maintain water treatment plants, reservoirs, and pumping stations to ensure high-quality drinking water for local communities.

You will also assist with maintenance of broader water and sewerage reticulation systems, follow ADWG guidelines, participate in on-call rosters, and support safety practices and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

• Certificate III in Water Industry Treatment (Drinking Water) or equivalent qualification.
• Current Class C Driver’s Licence.
• Construction Induction Card (White Card).
• Confined Spaces Entry Accreditation.
• NSW Fluoridation of Public Water Supplies accreditation (or ability to obtain during probation).
• Demonstrated knowledge of water treatment plant operations, maintenance, and WHS practices.

Responsibilities

• Monitor, operate, maintain, and repair water treatment plants, reservoirs, and pumping stations in compliance with Council standards and regulations.
• Undertake required operational testing and maintain detailed records in line with ADWG and regulators.
• Maintain facility cleanliness, site security, and assist with water/sewerage reticulation repairs as directed.
• Adhere to WHS protocols, SWMS, and correct PPE usage.
• Participate in the Council’s rotational on-call roster and scheduled overtime for after-hours, weekend, and public holiday needs.
