Job summary

AECOM Australia is seeking a Technical Director with a strong Building Structures background to lead the national Building Engineering team on major projects, delivering high-quality design leadership, technical excellence and client outcomes. This senior role involves project delivery, commercial management and business development across Australia with hybrid flexibility.

You will work with clients and multidisciplinary teams to win opportunities and drive growth while mentoring

Qualifications

• A tertiary qualification in Civil/Structural Engineering with Australia experience.
• Chartered Engineer and registrations.
• Extensive experience in building engineering and multidisciplinary projects.
• Senior technical, project or business leadership experience.
• Strong commercial understanding of budgets, programmes, contracts and financial performance.
• Proven client engagement, business development and winning work.
• Experience leading and developing high-performing project teams.
• Strong communication and negotiation with clients and senior stakeholders.
• Established network within the Australian building market (advantage).

Responsibilities

• Provide senior technical and design leadership across major Building Engineering projects.
• Lead project teams and ensure successful delivery of a portfolio of projects.
• Work with clients to understand needs, build relationships and provide practical engineering solutions.
• Lead design management, technical reviews and project delivery across multidisciplinary teams.
• Support business development and work winning through client engagement and proposals.
• Identify opportunities to grow AECOM’s services with existing and new clients.
• Provide commercial oversight across budgets, pricing, contracts and project reviews.
• Build and develop high-performing teams and mentor staff.
• Collaborate with senior leaders on resource planning and capability growth.
• Represent AECOM with clients, industry partners and the engineering community.
