Job summary

AECOM is seeking a Technical Director with a strong Building Structures background to join our national Building Engineering team. This senior leadership role combines technical design leadership, project delivery, and client engagement across major projects in Australia.

Based in Melbourne or other major cities, the role reports to the Sector Director and offers hybrid work, competitive benefits, and opportunities to grow with a global engineering leader.

• Senior technical and design leadership across major Building Engineering projects.
• Strong client engagement and relationship-building skills.
• Experience delivering multidisciplinary building services projects at scale.

Responsibilities

• Provide senior technical and design leadership across major Building Engineering projects, maintaining a strong focus on quality, programme, budget and client outcomes.
• Lead project teams and take responsibility for the successful delivery of a portfolio of projects.
• Work directly with clients to understand their needs, build strong relationships and provide practical engineering and design solutions.
• Take a lead role in design management, technical reviews and project delivery, working across multidisciplinary teams.
• Support business development and work winning through client engagement, proposals, tender interviews and presentations.
• Identify opportunities to grow AECOM’s services across existing and new clients, working with colleagues across different disciplines and locations.
• Provide commercial oversight across projects, including budgets, pricing, contracts, project reviews and financial performance. Plan, lead and own commercial conversations and outcomes with key clients.
• Build and develop high-performing teams, supporting technical development, collaboration and career progression.
• Work with senior leaders across AECOM to support business and resource planning and the continued growth of our Building Engineering capability.
• Represent AECOM with clients, industry partners and the wider engineering community.
