Job summary

AECOM is seeking a Technical Director level Mechanical Engineer to join our Building Engineering team in Sydney. You will provide strategic leadership across major projects, oversee technical delivery and ensure client satisfaction while mentoring engineers and growing client relationships across multiple sectors.

Qualifications

• Chartered Engineer with relevant professional engineer registration or transferrable registration.
• Ideally 18+ years’ experience in Building Services consultancy or mechanical contracting.
• Proven track record in technical design and project delivery with strong client relationships.
• Deep knowledge of Building Services projects and standards; able to share expertise with clients and juniors.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership across major multidisciplinary projects, overseeing technical delivery and ensuring commercial performance and client satisfaction.
• Lead and grow client relationships across health, defence, aviation, transport, and sports infrastructure in Sydney.
• Drive technical excellence by setting design direction and ensuring best practice standards across mechanical deliverables.
• Mentor and develop engineering talent, building capability within the team and clear pathways for progression.
• Contribute to business growth through work winning, market engagement and strengthening AECOM’s reputation as a trusted technical leader in the region.
