Job summary

AECOM is seeking a Technical Director with a strong Building Structures background to lead major projects in Australia. This senior role combines technical leadership, design direction, project delivery, commercial oversight and client engagement across a national building engineering team.

You’ll report to senior sector leadership, drive opportunity identification, and collaborate across multidisciplinary teams in a hybrid work model across multiple Australian cities.

Qualifications

• A tertiary qualification in Civil/Structural Engineering with 20+ years’ experience in Australia.
• Chartered Engineer status and relevant registrations.
• Strong track record in senior technical, project or business leadership.
• Experience leading multidisciplinary building services projects.
• Excellent client engagement and negotiation skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide senior technical and design leadership across major Building Engineering projects.
• Lead project teams and deliver a portfolio of projects.
• Work directly with clients to understand needs and provide practical engineering solutions.
• Take a lead role in design management, technical reviews and project delivery.
• Support business development and work winning through client engagement and proposals.
• Identify opportunities to grow AECOM’s services with existing and new clients.
• Provide commercial oversight across budgets, pricing, contracts and reviews.
• Build and develop high-performing teams and mentor staff.
• Coordinate with senior leaders on resource planning and capability growth.
• Represent AECOM with clients, industry partners and the wider engineering community.
