Job summary

Be Recruitment Group is seeking a Team Leader in Mount Isa for an eight-month contract to guide a local team connecting individuals and families with services and community networks across Mount Isa.

You’ll lead day-to-day service delivery, build partnerships with local organisations and support outreach to people facing barriers to access. A Diploma or higher qualification and strong leadership are required.

Qualifications

• Experience leading, supervising or mentoring staff in community services or related settings.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills across diverse communities.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks with accuracy and good record-keeping.
• Commitment to culturally safe and inclusive practice, including engagement with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.

Responsibilities

• Providing day-to-day guidance, coaching and support to staff
• Coordinating community hub activities, drop-in sessions and information sessions
• Building relationships with local health, mental health, disability and community organisations
• Strengthening referral pathways and identifying gaps in available support
• Supporting outreach to people who may face barriers to accessing services
• Guiding intake, assessment, support planning and referrals
• Supporting staff to respond to complex situations and escalate concerns appropriately
• Using feedback to improve service delivery
• Maintaining accurate records and contributing to reporting requirements

We’re seeking a Team Leader to guide a local team connecting individuals and families with services and community networks across Mount Isa.

Combining people leadership with community engagement, you’ll support day-to-day service delivery, build partnerships and help create a welcoming space where people can access information and support.

What you’ll be doing

• Providing day-to-day guidance, coaching and support to staff
• Coordinating community hub activities, drop-in sessions and information sessions
• Building relationships with local health, mental health, disability and community organisations
• Strengthening referral pathways and identifying gaps in available support
• Supporting outreach to people who may face barriers to accessing services
• Guiding consistent intake, assessment, support planning and referral practices
• Supporting staff to respond to complex situations and escalating concerns appropriately
• Using participant feedback and service information to improve delivery
• Maintaining accurate records and contributing to reporting requirements

About you

You’re approachable, practical and confident bringing people together. You enjoy supporting a team while staying connected to the community and the services it needs.

You’ll bring:

• Experience leading, supervising or mentoring staff in community services or a related setting
• A Diploma or higher qualification in a relevant discipline, and/or equivalent community sector experience
• Experience in community engagement, service coordination or supporting individuals and families
• Confidence developing partnerships and representing a service at local networks
• A commitment to culturally safe and inclusive practice, including engagement with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities
• Sound judgement, professional boundaries and an understanding of risk management
• Strong communication, organisation and administration skills
• A current driver licence and willingness to travel as required

Knowledge of Mount Isa and surrounding communities would be highly regarded. Experience across mental health, disability, AOD, family services or other human services settings would also be valuable.
