Job summary

Be Recruitment Group in Mount Isa seeks a Team Leader to guide a community services team, connect individuals with supports and strengthen local partnerships. You’ll lead day-to-day service delivery, supervise staff, and help create a welcoming space where people can access information and practical assistance.

This role combines leadership with community engagement, requiring a Diploma or higher qualification, experience in community services, and a commitment to culturally safe practice.

Responsibilities

• Providing day-to-day guidance, coaching and support to staff.
• Coordinating community hub activities, drop-in sessions and information sessions.
• Building relationships with local health, mental health, disability and community organisations.
• Strengthening referral pathways and identifying gaps in available support.
• Supporting outreach to people who may face barriers to accessing services.
• Guiding intake, assessment, support planning and referral practices.
• Supporting staff to respond to complex situations and escalation concerns.
• Using feedback to improve delivery and maintain accurate records.
• Contributing to reporting requirements.

About the opportunity

Strong community services depend on people knowing where to turn and feeling comfortable asking for help. We’re seeking a Team Leader to guide a local team connecting individuals and families with services and community networks across Mount Isa. Combining people leadership with community engagement, you’ll support day-to-day service delivery, build partnerships and help create a welcoming space where people can access information and support.

What you’ll be doing

• Providing day-to-day guidance, coaching and support to staff
• Coordinating community hub activities, drop-in sessions and information sessions
• Building relationships with local health, mental health, disability and community organisations
• Strengthening referral pathways and identifying gaps in available support
• Supporting outreach to people who may face barriers to accessing services
• Guiding consistent intake, assessment, support planning and referral practices
• Supporting staff to respond to complex situations and escalation concerns appropriately
• Using participant feedback and service information to improve delivery
• Maintaining accurate records and contributing to reporting requirements

About you

You’re approachable, practical and confident bringing people together. You enjoy supporting a team while staying connected to the community and the services it needs.

• Experience leading, supervising or mentoring staff in community services or a related setting
• A Diploma or higher qualification in a relevant discipline, and/or equivalent community sector experience
• Experience in community engagement, service coordination or supporting individuals and families
• Confidence developing partnerships and representing a service at local networks
• A commitment to culturally safe and inclusive practice, including engagement with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities
• Sound judgement, professional boundaries and an understanding of risk management
• Strong communication, organisation and administration skills
• A current driver licence and willingness to travel as required
• Knowledge of Mount Isa and surrounding communities would be highly regarded.
• Experience across mental health, disability, AOD, family services or other human services settings would also be valuable.
