Australian Energy Market Operator (AEMO) is leading Australia’s energy transition through strategic planning and enterprise-wide change. The Strategy team translates long-term vision into actionable short- and medium-term plans, aligning with financial objectives and investment decisions.

Reporting to the General Manager Strategy, this role demands strong problem solving, communication, and collaboration across the organisation, with mentoring responsibilities for junior staff.

Qualifications

• Experience in strategy development or corporate planning, ideally within the energy sector.
• Ability to translate strategy into actionable plans and prioritize initiatives.
• Exceptional communication and stakeholder engagement with senior audiences.

Responsibilities

• Lead AEMO's annual strategic and corporate planning process, translating long-term strategy into 1–3 year priorities and initiatives.
• Partner with senior leaders to align strategic priorities with divisional plans, financial outcomes, and investment decisions.
• Develop compelling justifications for strategic initiatives linked to stakeholder value and organisational outcomes.
• Oversee strategic performance reporting, monitor progress against corporate plan initiatives, and drive continuous improvement.
• Prepare high-quality Board and Executive-level materials, mentoring junior team members and fostering a collaborative culture.
