Job summary

Australian Energy Market Operator (AEMO) is seeking a strategic leader to shape Australia’s energy future within the Strategy team. You will translate long-term goals into actionable 1–3 year plans, and drive enterprise-wide change across a complex, regulated sector.

You will lead corporate planning, coordinate with senior leaders, and prepare materials for Board and Executive audiences, while mentoring junior staff and ensuring alignment with financial objectives.

Responsibilities

• Lead annual strategic and corporate planning process, translating long-term strategy into actionable 1–3 year priorities and initiatives.
• Partner with senior leaders across the organisation to align strategic priorities with divisional plans, financial outcomes, and investment decisions.
• Develop compelling justifications for strategic initiatives, linking to stakeholder value and organisational outcomes.
• Oversee strategic performance reporting by monitoring progress against key initiatives within the corporate plan; provide insights for Board, ELT and stakeholders.
• Prepare high-quality Board and Executive-level strategy materials; mentor junior team members and foster a collaborative, high-performing culture.
