Australian Energy Market Operator (AEMO) in Brisbane seeks a Senior Strategy professional to lead strategic planning and translate long-term goals into actionable 1–3 year priorities. You will partner with senior leaders to align divisional plans with financial outcomes and investments, while developing compelling justifications for key initiatives.

Reporting to the General Manager Strategy, you will guide cross-functional planning, oversee performance reporting for the Board, mentor junior

Qualifications

• Experience in strategy development, corporate planning, or management consulting within energy/sectors
• Ability to translate strategy into actionable plans and justify initiatives delivering stakeholder value
• Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving; able to navigate ambiguity and complexity
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement for executive, board, and external audiences
• Ability to build relationships, drive collaboration, and manage priorities in a fast-paced environment

Responsibilities

• Lead AEMO's annual strategic and corporate planning process, turning long-term strategy into 1–3 year priorities.
• Collaborate with senior leaders to align priorities with divisional plans, finances and investments.
• Develop compelling justifications linking initiatives to stakeholder value and outcomes.
• Oversee strategic performance reporting and drive continuous improvement in planning and reporting.
• Prepare Board/Executive strategy materials and mentor junior team members.
