Job summary

Gold Fields in Sydney is seeking a Superintendent of Mine Planning to lead the Planning Engineering Departments across underground operations and optimize mine planning from short-term implementation to medium-term Life of Mine strategies.

You will oversee development of plans that maximize gold recovery, coordinate with technical and operations teams, and mentor staff while driving continuous improvement in planning and production processes.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualification in Mining Engineering or equivalent.
• Extensive underground mining experience with exposure to open pit desirable and within gold.
• Experience developing operationally ready mine designs and schedules and managing engineering workflows.
• Strong leadership and ability to support a multidisciplinary team.
• Proficiency in Deswik.CAD, Deswik.Sched, Ventsim, and Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement comprehensive mine plans considering geological data and mining constraints to optimize gold recovery.
• Work closely with technical and operational teams to optimize mining performance, safety, efficiency, and standards adherence.
• Collaboratively review and update mine plans to align operations with annual objectives and LOM strategy.
• Monitor KPI values and mining costs, identifying improvement areas and cost-saving opportunities.
• Provide leadership, mentorship, and development opportunities to team members.
• Communicate regularly with senior management, providing updates on mine planning activities, production forecasts, and KPIs.
• Foster a culture of continuous improvement by identifying opportunities for process improvement in mine planning and production.
