Job summary

Catholic Education Diocese of Wollongong invites applications for a permanent full-time Support Class Teacher. The role begins 28 January 2027 with an initial two-year placement in a dedicated Support Class.

You will collaborate to create a safe, inclusive learning environment for students with mild-to-moderate intellectual disabilities, Autism and complex learning needs, with potential future placements within CEDoW schools.

Qualifications

• Catholic ethos and commitment to Catholic education values.
• Qualifications to teach Religious Education, or willingness to undertake relevant study with CEDoW.
• Post-graduate studies in special/inclusive education, or significant experience in a specialised setting.
• Ability to design personalised learning adjustments to support full curriculum access.
• Collaborative curriculum planning for students with diverse learning needs.
• Knowledge of evidence-based positive behaviour support approaches.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Ability to lead, mentor and collaborate with teaching colleagues, support staff, external health/allied professionals, parents and carers.

Responsibilities

• Establish a safe, inclusive and engaging learning environment for students with mild-to-moderate intellectual disabilities, Autism and complex learning profiles.
• Work collaboratively within a dynamic team in a two-year placement for Support Class.
• Contribute to curriculum planning, adjustments and personalised learning supports.
• Lead and mentor colleagues, and engage with families, allied professionals and school staff.
