Job summary

AECOM is seeking a Senior Water Resources Engineer to lead drainage and flood modelling work from our Rockhampton, Mackay or Townsville offices. You will deliver drainage designs, stormwater plans and hydraulic models using industry-standard tools, while mentoring junior engineers and engaging with clients and regulators.

You will contribute technical leadership across major infrastructure programs and ensure solutions meet Australian standards.

Qualifications

• Proven Drainage/Flood Modelling industry experience (circa 5-15 years+).
• RPEQ or ability to apply for RPEQ preferred.
• Experience in planning, hydraulic assessment and design of stormwater and drainage networks, or hydrologic modelling.
• Skilled with Civil3D / 12D and hydraulic modelling tools (TUFLOW, DRAINS, URBS, XP-Rafts, WBNM).
• Strong capability across underground and surface water drainage systems.
• Experience delivering major infrastructure projects in a consulting environment.
• Ability to provide technical leadership, design review and mentoring.
• Strong communication and stakeholder engagement with clients.
• Commercial awareness and understanding of project delivery principles.

Responsibilities

• Technical delivery of drainage designs, stormwater plans and hydraulic assessments for major projects.
• Provide hydrologic/hydraulic input using Civil3D, 12D, and related tools.
• Develop practical solutions to drainage/flooding and water quality challenges.
• Produce high-quality technical and non-technical reports.
• Mentor engineers and support project teams with quality assurance.
• Engage with clients, regulators and stakeholders to win work.
• Ensure alignment with Australian standards and guidelines.
• Stay current with tools, methodologies, and regulatory changes.
