Senior Training Leader — Mining & Workforce Capability

Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a senior Training Leader to oversee the Cowal Mine Training Scheme and related learning systems, driving capability across the workforce and ensuring safety and compliance across all training activities.

You will mentor a team of Training Advisors and Trainer Assessors, partner with site leaders, and influence senior leadership to deliver continuous improvement in capability and performance.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualification in a training related discipline.
• Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40116) or equivalent.
• Minimum of 5 years experience in training, learning and development or workforce capability roles.
• Experience within mining, resources or heavy industry environments.
• Demonstrated leadership experience with the ability to mentor, coach and develop high-performing teams.
• Strong knowledge of training compliance, competency based frameworks and relevant legislation.
• Ability to build strong stakeholder relationships and influence outcomes across all levels of an organisation.
• Experience with INX, Moodle or similar learning management systems (highly regarded).
• Experience conducting training needs analyses, skill gap assessments and training audits (highly regarded).
• Exposure to strategic workforce planning and capability development initiatives (highly regarded).

Responsibilities

• Lead and continuously improve the Cowal Mine Training Scheme and learning systems to support operational excellence.
• Drive workforce capability through training needs analysis, competency development and strategic training initiatives.
• Ensure training compliance aligns with legislative requirements, site expectations and safety management systems.
• Mentor and develop a team of Training Advisors and Trainer Assessors.
• Influence leaders across the business to strengthen workforce competency, engagement and continuous improvement outcomes.
• Partner with operational and site leaders to support safe, productive and high-performing operations.
• Report to the Superintendent - Safety & Health
