Job summary

Willmott Park Primary School is seeking a Learning Specialist who will spend most of their time in the classroom while modelling excellence in teaching and learning. You will mentor and coach teachers, deliver demonstration lessons, and lead school-based professional learning.

The role focuses on improving achievement, engagement and wellbeing through strong data usage, collaboration with staff, and development of professional learning structures within the Teaching Service.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated expert knowledge of the relevant curriculum and ability to model literacy and numeracy across the curriculum.
• Expertise in implementing explicit teaching and PCMS to meet student learning needs.
• Ability to use data to inform teaching practice and provide feedback on student growth.
• Interpersonal and communication skills for engagement with students, colleagues, parents and the school community.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate high-level expertise in teaching and learning practice.
• Model exemplary classroom practice including through teaching demonstration lessons.
• Collaborate with school leadership to develop a view of effective teacher practice.
• Lead and model whole-school improvement strategies in curriculum planning and delivery.
• Provide professional learning and establish processes for observation and feedback of teaching practice.
• Model effective learning and support teachers to seek, analyze and act on feedback.
• Provide evidence-based feedback to inform teacher development.
• Advise on context and strategies for school-based professional learning.
• Supervise and mentor student teachers and coach teachers.
• Demonstrate use of student data to inform teaching approaches.
• Develop school-wide professional learning structures and protocols.
• Seek feedback from peers to reflect on and improve practice.
