Job summary

Leopold Primary School is seeking a Learning Specialist to lead high-quality teaching and learning improvements. The role focuses on delivering demonstration lessons, mentoring teachers, and shaping whole-school improvement initiatives that lift achievement, engagement and wellbeing for students.

The specialist will work with leaders to implement evidence-based practices, support professional learning communities and use data to guide instructional decisions across year levels.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated expert knowledge of the relevant curriculum and how it informs classroom practice.
• Ability to model high impact teaching strategies and adapt to diverse learning needs.
• Capacity to use student data to monitor progress and inform instruction.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills for collaboration with staff, students and families.
• Alignment with Department values and commitment to professional learning.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate high-level expertise in teaching and learning practices.
• Model exemplary classroom practice including demonstration lessons.
• Collaborate with school leadership to define effective teacher practice.
• Lead and model whole-school improvement strategies tied to curriculum delivery.
• Coordinate professional learning processes including observation and feedback of practice.
• Provide evidence-based feedback to teachers to inform development.
• Offer expert advice on context, processes and strategies for school professional learning.
• Supervise and mentor student teachers or early career teachers.
