Job summary

AECOM in Australia seeks a Technical Director with a strong Building Services background to lead senior technical and design efforts across major projects. You will guide multidisciplinary teams, manage client relationships and drive delivery of complex building engineering outcomes across the country.

Reporting to Sector Manager, you’ll shape strategy, oversee budgets and commercial performance, and identify opportunities to grow services with existing and new clients while mentoring

Qualifications

• Engineering degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Fire/Hydraulics with 20+ years in the building services industry in Australia.
• Chartered Engineer and relevant registrations.
• Extensive experience in multidisciplinary building services projects.
• Experience in a senior technical, project or business leadership role.
• Strong commercial understanding including project budgets, programmes, contracts and financial performance.
• Experience in client engagement, business development and winning work.
• Experience leading and developing high-performing project teams.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management with clients and senior project stakeholders.
• Established network within the Australian building engineering and property market.

Responsibilities

• Provide senior technical and design leadership across major Building Engineering projects, focusing on quality, programme, budget and client outcomes.
• Lead project teams and ensure successful delivery of a portfolio of projects.
• Work directly with clients to understand needs and provide practical engineering solutions.
• Lead design management, technical reviews and project delivery across multidisciplinary teams.
• Support business development and work winning through client engagement and proposals.
• Identify opportunities to grow AECOM’s services with existing and new clients.
• Provide commercial oversight across projects including budgets, pricing, contracts, reviews and financials.
• Build and develop high-performing teams and mentor staff.
• Collaborate with senior leaders to support business and resource planning and growth of Building Engineering.
• Represent AECOM with clients, industry partners and the engineering community.
