Job summary

The Glad Group is seeking a Security Control Room Operator in Sydney to help monitor CCTV, alarms and access points across sites. You will manage incidents, coordinate emergency responses and maintain documentation, while delivering professional customer service and working with a dedicated security team.

Ideal candidates will hold a NSW Security Licence, have experience in CCTV monitoring and access control, and demonstrate calm, decisive judgment under pressure.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Control Room Operations: monitor CCTV, security cameras and alarms; communicate with management and services.
• Incident Management and Reporting: record, assess and escalate incidents; maintain logs and documentation.
• Emergency Response: respond to alarms and emergencies; coordinate with emergency services.
• Communication and Coordination: radio/phone communication; dispatch security officers.
• Access Control and Security Systems: monitor restricted areas; report breaches; assist access procedures.
• Customer Service and Professional Conduct: handle inquiries courteously; maintain confidentiality.
• General Responsibilities: keep the control room organized; report faults; ensure compliance with procedures.

What you’ll be doing

As part of our Security team, you’ll help create safe, secure and welcoming environments for our clients and communities. Working alongside supportive leaders and teammates, you’ll play an important role in protecting people, responding professionally and delivering exceptional service every day.

Key responsibilities include:

• Control Room Operations
  • Monitor CCTV surveillance systems, security cameras and other electronic security systems.
  • Monitor and respond to security alarms, duress alarms, fire panels and emergency notifications.
  • Maintain effective communication with security officers, centre management, facilities management and emergency services.
  • Coordinate security responses to incidents and emergencies across the shopping centre.
• Incident Management and Reporting
  • Receive, assess, record and escalation security incidents, hazards and emergencies.
  • Maintain accurate incident reports, daily occurrence books, control room logs and relevant documentation.
  • Monitor ongoing incidents and ensure appropriate follow up and escalation.
  • Assist with investigations by reviewing and preserving relevant CCTV footage in accordance with centre procedures.
• Emergency Response
  • Respond promptly to fire alarms, medical emergencies, duress activations, suspicious behaviour and other emergency situations.
  • Coordinate emergency responses in accordance with the centre's Emergency Management Procedures.
  • Liaise with NSW Police, Fire and Rescue NSW, NSW Ambulance and other emergency services when required.
  • Support emergency evacuations, lockdowns and other emergency management procedures.
• Communication and Coordination
  • Maintain professional and clear radio and telephone communication with security personnel.
  • Dispatch and coordinate security officers to incidents, patrol requests and other operational requirements.
  • Monitor security officer activities and provide operational support throughout the shift.
  • Ensure all relevant information is communicated during shift handovers.
• Access Control and Security Systems
  • Monitor access control systems, restricted areas, loading docks and other designated security points.
  • Monitor and report suspicious activities, unauthorised access and potential security breaches.
  • Assist with contractor and visitor access procedures in accordance with centre requirements.
• Customer Service and Professional Conduct
  • Maintain a professional and customer-focused approach when dealing with customers, retailers, contractors and centre management.
  • Respond to telephone enquiries and security-related requests in a courteous and timely manner.
  • Maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgement when handling sensitive security information.
• General Responsibilities
  • Ensure the Control Room remains organised, operational and compliant with site procedures.
  • Complete all required operational checks and maintain accurate records.
  • Identify and report equipment faults, security system malfunctions and maintenance issues.
  • Comply with all Glad Group policies, Westfield site procedures, workplace health and safety requirements and relevant legislation.
