Job summary

Certis Security Australia is hiring a Security Officer at Southern Cross University on the Gold Coast. You will contribute to a safe and welcoming campus environment through vigilant security practices, access control, and proactive patrols.

The role requires a QLD Security Licence, First Aid certification, and a Working with Children Check, with CCTV experience considered a plus. This full-time position offers opportunities for growth, a supportive team culture, and access to employee discounts

Responsibilities

• Keep campus operations safe and secure.
• Manage vehicle leasing, visitor passes, and access control.
• Conduct proactive internal and external patrols.
• Monitor CCTV, WHS compliance, and alarm responses.
• Issue and maintain staff/contractor/visitor access cards.
• Respond to perimeter breaches or unauthorized access.
• Liaise with university stakeholders and report risks.
• Maintain logs and security documentation.

Employment Type: Full-Time

Roster: WEEK A: Mon, Tues, Wed 2pm-10pm, Sat, Sun 6am-6pm

WEEK B: Wed, Thurs, 2pm-10pm, Fri 6am-6pm

Pay Rate: SSIA Level 3

Key Responsibilities

• Keeping campus operations smooth and secure through:
• Managing vehicle leasing, visitor passes, and access control
• Conducting proactive internal and external patrols
• Monitoring CCTV, WHS compliance, and alarm responses
• Issuing and maintaining staff, contractor, and visitor access cards
• Responding to perimeter breaches or unauthorized access attempts
• Operating intercom systems and overseeing traffic and screening areas
• Liaising with university stakeholders and reporting potential risks
• Maintaining accurate logs, reports, and security documentation

Mandatory Requirements

• Valid QLD Security Licence
• A current First Aid Certificate
• Working with Children Check (or willingness to obtain).
• CCTV monitoring experience (highly regarded)
• Strong communication and observation skills
