Job summary

Perilya Limited, a long-established Australian mining company, operates the Broken Hill mine and other assets, focusing on safety, community value, and sustainable growth. We seek a Safety Advisor to join the team in Broken Hill on a residential basis, with a Monday to Friday roster.

You will report to the Health and Safety Superintendent and help drive safety culture through HSE systems, risk assessments, audits, and training, contributing to responsible operations and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Minimum Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety; Diploma preferred.
• Experience in mining, construction, or high-risk environments.
• Certificate IV in Training and Assessment desirable.
• Drug and Alcohol Testing qualification HLTPAT005 or willingness to obtain.
• Familiarity with safety auditing practices desirable.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel).

Responsibilities

• Assist in implementing and maintaining HSE systems, policies and procedures.
• Support site-based incident investigations and risk assessments.
• Conduct workplace inspections and hazard identification activities.
• Facilitate safety training and inductions for personnel.
• Assist with internal and external HSE audits.
• Maintain accurate safety records and data reporting.
• Promote proactive safety behaviours and program adherence.

Role Details

We are seeking Safety Advisors to join our team at Broken Hill on a residential basis only.

This is a Monday to Friday roster, offering the opportunity to build your career while enjoying the lifestyle and community of Broken Hill.

What You’ll Be Doing

Reporting to the Health and Safety Superintendent, the Safety Advisor plays a key role in supporting frontline leaders and the broader workforce to meet our safety expectations. You’ll contribute to a culture of accountability, safety awareness, and continuous improvement by:

• Assist in the implementation and maintenance of HSE systems, policies, and procedures
• Support site-based incident investigations and risk assessments
• Conduct workplace inspections and hazard identification activities
• Facilitate safety training and inductions
• Assist with internal and external HSE audits
• Maintain accurate safety records and data reporting
• Promote proactive safety behaviours and compliance with Perilya’s Fitness for Work and Rules to Live By programs

What You Will Bring

• Minimum Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety (WHS) – Diploma of WHS preferred
• Experience in mining, construction, or a high-risk operational environment
• Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (desirable)
• Drug and Alcohol Testing qualification (HLTPAT005) or willingness to obtain
• Familiarity with safety auditing practices (desirable)
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)
