Qualifications

• Australian-recognised Heavy Diesel Mechanic trade qualification.
• Experience with underground mobile plant or mobile maintenance in mining, civil, or heavy industry preferred.

• Sharp safety awareness and ability to work as part of a team in underground environments.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair faults on underground mobile equipment (loaders, trucks, drills).
• Perform scheduled servicing and breakdown maintenance on underground fleet.

Role Details
Perilya’s Broken Hill operation is home to a large and diverse mobile fleet supporting underground production in a world-class base metals mine. We’re seeking a skilled Heavy Diesel Mechanic to join our Mobile Maintenance Team, keeping our equipment running safely and efficiently.

You’ll be responsible for the repair, service, and preventative maintenance of underground mobile plant and equipment. You’ll work alongside a supportive crew of tradespeople in a well-established maintenance workshop, with access to excellent facilities and ongoing training.

What You’ll Be Doing

Diagnosing and repairing faults on underground mobile equipment (loaders, trucks, drills, and ancillary fleet)

Performing scheduled servicing, breakdown maintenance, and component change-outs

Ensuring all maintenance activities are completed safely and to a high standard

Collaborating with operators and supervisors to minimise downtime and improve fleet reliability

Maintaining accurate maintenance records and following site procedures

What You Will Bring

You’ll have:

Australian-recognised Heavy Diesel Mechanic trade qualification

Experience with underground mobile plant (or strong background in mobile maintenance in mining, civil, or heavy industry)

Sound mechanical and diagnostic skills

Strong safety focus and teamwork ethic

Ability to work autonomously in a fast-paced underground environment
