WOODWARD STREET BAKERY CAFE in Whitfield, Cairns is seeking an experienced Fast Food Retail Manager to oversee daily store operations. This includes managing staff, ensuring excellent customer service, and coordinating inventory and supplier relations.

About us
Woodward St Bakery Cafe is a much-loved artisan bakery and cafe in Whitfield, Cairns. Every day we bake sourdough, croissants, danishes, Portuguese tarts, pies and sausage rolls on site, and serve specialty coffee to a loyal local crowd and visitors alike. Our weekend brunch menu keeps things busy, and our relaxed tropical fit-out makes it a place people come back to. We are now looking for an experienced Fast Food Retail Manager to lead the front of house and keep the business running smoothly.

The role
You will be responsible for the day-to-day running of the store, from opening to close, making sure every customer gets great food, great coffee and friendly service. Key duties include:

• Managing daily store operations, including opening and closing procedures, cash handling and end-of-day reconciliation
• Recruiting, training, rostering and supervising counter, barista and kitchen support staff
• Monitoring sales performance, controlling wage and food costs, and reporting to the owners
• Ordering stock, managing supplier relationships, and controlling inventory and wastage
• Planning daily product displays and working with the bakers on production quantities
• Ensuring full compliance with food safety, hygiene and WHS requirements
• Handling customer feedback and resolving complaints professionally
• Assisting with pricing, promotions and menu updates

About you

• Minimum 1 year of experience as a manager in a fast food, bakery, cafe or quick-service retail environment
• Strong leadership and staff management skills
• Sound knowledge of stock control, rostering and cost management
• Current Food Safety Supervisor certificate (or willingness to obtain)
• Excellent communication and customer service skills
• Availability to work early mornings and weekends as rostered
