Job summary

Block, Inc. is seeking a Deputy Chief Compliance Officer for Financial Services to join Afterpay ANZ.

Based in Australia, preferably Sydney or Melbourne, you will lead the line-2 compliance function across Australia and New Zealand, focusing on advisory, licensing, governance, and frameworks to support regulated fintech products and services. You will oversee licensing, governance, compliance risk management, and regulatory interactions, delivering policies and programs aligned with ASIC

Qualifications

• 10+ years experience as a compliance and risk professional in Australian financial services environments.
• Experience building and maintaining frameworks to support regulated financial services products.
• Knowledge of regulatory interactions and investigations including managing information requests and audits.
• Deep knowledge of financial services regulation and compliance across consumer credit, BNPL, payments, licensing, AML, and anti-bribery.
• Experience identifying, recording and overseeing remediation of incidents and issues and escalating to regulators.
• You have a data and technical focus and can operationalize new regulatory obligations, including using AI to improve outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Support the Head of Compliance to ensure the Function and Framework operate effectively and meet regulatory expectations.
• Lead the Compliance Framework and Program; document and maintain policies, standards and procedures.
• Work with risk and compliance functions to embed governance and frameworks for regulated products.
• Maintain Australian Credit License governance, oversight and annual ASIC compliance.
• Manage monitoring, reporting, audit and testing activities, including regulator and Board reporting.
• Lead projects to assess and implement new regulatory obligations and policies.
• Oversee risk assessments on new products to ensure compliance program adherence.
• Manage databases and records related to compliance risk management.
