Job summary

Mackay Radiology, part of IDX Group, invites applications for a permanent full-time medical receptionist. The role involves welcoming patients, registering and processing documents, handling calls, and scheduling using Karisma RIS.

You will need strong communication, empathy, data-entry accuracy, EFTPOS/cash handling, and the ability to multitask in a busy clinic. Monday to Friday, with training and opportunities for career development.

ABOUT THE ROLE

This is a permanent full-time position, working 38 hours per week Monday to Friday with no weekend work. Reporting to the Clerical in Charge, your responsibilities will include:

• Welcoming patients and providing professional, compassionate and efficient service.
• Registering patients and processing relevant documentation.
• Managing incoming calls and responding to patient and referrer enquiries.
• Scheduling and managing appointments using our RIS system, Karisma.
• Providing patients with preparation requirements and relevant appointment information.
• Coordinating appointments to support efficient clinic workflows.
• Providing information regarding fees, Medicare rebates, DVA and third-party insurance claims.
• Processing patient accounts, EFTPOS and cash payments.
• Completing end-of-day processes including billing, Medicare and DVA batching, report follow-up and clinic closures.
• Working collaboratively with our clinical, technical and administration teams to deliver an exceptional patient experience.

ABOUT YOU

You will bring a warm, professional approach and enjoy working in a busy, patient-focused environment.

Ideally, you will have:

• Previous experience within medical administration, radiology or another patient-facing healthcare environment.
• An understanding of medical terminology or an interest in developing your knowledge.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to demonstrate care, compassion and empathy.
• Excellent keyboard and data-entry skills with strong attention to detail.
• Strong organisation and multitasking skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities.
• Confidence working in a fast-paced environment and solving problems as they arise.
• The ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
• EFTPOS and cash-handling experience.
• A commitment to ongoing learning and professional development.
